About FBBC

Fairlie Bible Baptist Church is a Bible-believing Independent Baptist church.

This means we believe the Bible to be our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Teaching here is exclusively from the Authorized Version (KJV), but we encourage you to bring along whatever Bible you have.

Being Independent, we are not under the direction of any denominational hierarchy, but are free to operate as God directs in the Bible. We are not ‘exclusive’ but enjoy fellowship with many other similar churches of like faith and practice around Canterbury, New Zealand, and beyond.

We are conservative in our standards and music – we sing beautiful, traditional-style hymns that glorify God first of all, and also teach Biblical doctrine. “Amazing Grace” is a well-known example.

We welcome you to come along to learn God's Word with us and enjoy Christian fellowship.

You can hear some of the preaching HERE.

The most important thing to know:

Jesus Christ was God in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16). He came to Earth as a man and died on the cross to pay for the sins of all mankind. Three days later He miraculously rose from the dead, before ascending to heaven 40 days later.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

What is sin? Why is it significant?

Sin is anything that we do that is wrong – that is against God’s rules for our lives. Lying is one example, and all of us have lied at some point in our lives.

Any sin at any time separates us from God, as He is perfect and His standard is perfection. The consequences of sin according to the Bible is death and hell.

But Christ’s sacrifice on the cross paid the price for us and washes away our sin, allowing us - if we accept the payment by faith – to spend eternity in heaven.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

How can I have a part in this?

It’s so simple even a child can do it.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Simply believe what Jesus Christ did for you, and confess your sin to Him.
There is nothing you can do to earn this salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). But a genuinely saved person ought to seek thereafter to follow God with their lives.

Come along to church and learn with us how we can follow and serve God according to His perfect preserved Bible.
